Confirmed Positive Case of Coronavirus - Information for Rang 6 parents
FAO PARENTS OF CHILDREN IN RANG 6
Following on from my communication earlier this evening, I can confirm that a child in Rang 6 has tested positive for Covid-19. I have consulted with the PHA this evening and they have advised that all pupils in Rang 6, who are now considered 'close contacts' of a positve case, should immediately self-isolate until and including Friday 23rd October.
Parents of children in Rang 6 will be issued with a letter from the PHA tomorrow morning via e mail.
'Self-isolation' means that your child should remain in your family home / garden for the next fortnight. They should not be out playing on the street with other children and should not be visiting family or friends. They should not attend any sporting or other extra-curricular activities or visit local shops and you should discourage other people from visiting your home during this time. The 'self-isolation' advice only applies to your Rang 6 child and all other siblings from your family should attend school as normal.
Please keep a close eye on your child and indeed on all other family members, in case they begin to develop symptoms of Covid-19. If this occurs, please contact the PHA and book a Covid test.
Múinteoir Meg was absent on Friday and I taught the Rang 6 class for the day and on the advice of the PHA, I am now also following the same self-isolation advice as the children. I will be available by e-mail from 9am-4pm each day on gaelscoilaodharua@yahoo.ie Remote / Digital learning will commence for Rang 6 tomorrow. Múinteoir Meg will be uploading daily activities onto Google Classroom beginning tomorrow morning. The children also have their homework folder activities, AR books and Maths Facts in a Flash to be getting on with.
Please log into Google Classroom tonight to be sure that your child's password etc are all working. Meg will be available via e-mail from 9am-4pm each day on mfox444@c2kni.net - please let her know tomorrow morning if you have any difficulties getting logged in.
The child who has tested positive is mildly unwell, but thankfully not in any major discomfort. We send them our best wishes and ask all parents to respect the privacy of this family.
I know that this is a worrying time for families and I thank you all for your support and cooperation at this time.
Go raibh míle maith agaibh.
