PILLEADH AR SCOIL / RETURN TO SCHOOL
School principals received a 70 page document from the Department of Education yesterday morning at around 10.30am. Having digested the information and having met with our Board of Governors last night, we have finalised a plan for our return. Throughout the day today, I will be posting specific 'return to school details' for the following groups, here on the school facebook page and on the school website: Rang 7 Ranganna 2-6 New Rang 1 pupils New Naíscoil pupils A letter and a Covid 19 policies and procedures hand-book will then be posted to all parents on Monday. A number of compulsory operational policy documents will need to be returned to the class teacher, before your child can re-commence school. In the meantime, please remember the following: GAELSCOIL & NAÍSCOIL PUPILS
- If you have been on a foreign holiday to a country on the PHA list, your family will have to quarantine for 14 days and will not be able to attend school during this time.
- On return to school, children will be expected to wear a clean / fresh uniform every day. To assist with washing & drying of uniforms, children are permitted to wear their PE uniform (Gaelscoil pupils only - specific guidance for Naíscoil will follow in our Fáilte book) every second day, if their formal uniform is not ready. We remind you that children can wear navy shorts / jogging bottoms with their uniform, but ask that these are plain navy. (not skinnies & not with coloured stripes etc)
- School-bags & pencil cases will not be permitted in school for at least the month of September. This will be reviewed.
GAELSCOIL PUPILS ONLY
- A hard plastic / wipeable lunch-box will be required which will be wiped on arrival to school each day. We ask that it is also wiped, inside and out, every evening at home.
- School dinners will not be served until at least Mon 7th Sept. Children entitled to Free School Meals will be provided with a packed lunch by EA Catering staff from 1st Sept. All other children will need to bring a packed lunch.
- We will not be able to provide a breaktime snack for pupils in Ranganna 1&2 for the foreseeable future. Children in all classes should bring a healthy snack and a re-fillable bottle of water to school every day. Parents will be contacted if children arrive at school repeatedly without a breaktime snack & water.
- Children will need to bring a plastic box, big enough to hold A4 books, 2 bottles of hand sanitiser and a box of tissues to school.
- At this stage, we are still not sure if the Ace Coaches bus service will be running. We ask that parents make alternative travel arrangements to and from school for the first week of term. We will update you on this as further guidance on public transport is issued.
We are working very hard to have everything in place for our pupils returning to school and look forward to welcoming you all back very soon! Keep an eye on this page throughout the day for further details. Go raibh míle maith agaibh!
