SAOIRE NA NOLLAG / CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS
SAOIRE NA NOLLAG / CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS
A few people have been asking about the end of term dates, in light of the media publicity regarding the early closure of schools.
So just to confirm ....
Gaelscoil and Naíscoil Aodha Rua will close for the Christmas holidays at 11am on Tuesday 22nd Dec. As I said in my earlier letter, we appreciate that some families may be nervous about sending children to school in the 14 days before Christmas, especially if they have vulnerable grandparents / other relatives, who may be at a higher risk from Covid-19.
If parents wish to keep children at home this week, we will facilitate a package of home-learning. If you did not receive your pack on Friday evening, they can be collected from the school tomorrow, morning.
We have a range of fun, festive activities arranged for this week at school, including art, Christmas dinner, a virtual panto, a virtual carol service and a Santa dash around the track. Children are invited to wear Christmas jumpers on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday and are asked to bring a Santa hat to school on Friday.
If your child is due to attend school between now and the end of term, we respectfully ask all parents to minimise their child's interactions with people beyond your family home and we implore upon you not to be taking children out around crowded shops etc. where they would be at a greater risk of catching Covid-19.
Remember, if we have even ONE case, the whole class and all the staff associated with that class will now be self-isolating for ten days, until the day before Christmas Eve and potentially beyond!
If your child is in any way unwell, please do not take any chances. Keep them at home and if they show symptoms of Covid-19, please book a Covid test and inform me of the results before they return to school.
Go raibh míle maith agaibh for your ongoing support and co-operation. Please give me a call to the school office if your have any further queries.
