Rang 7 are currently learning about the Great Hunger and are reading 'Under the Hawthorn Tree' as a class novel. The book, written by Marita Conlon Mc Kenna, is the first of a trilogy based on life during the Great Hunger. We recently took the opportunity to visit the Ulster-American Folk Park in Omagh and were able to bring the characters from the book to life and imagine the difficult lives they had to lead during the Great Hunger.
